Greene, former resident of Meyersdale and frequent visitor here, and well known in railroad circles, died at Painesville, Ohio, where he lived, Tuesday evening, Sept. 17, following a paralytic stroke, several days before, from which he never recovered consciousness. He was born December 17, 1864, at Ellerslie, Md. when a young man he came to Meyersdale in the employ of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. He became acquainted with Annie C. Baer, daughter of the late Solomon and Eliza Baer, whom he married in 1886. Mrs. Greene preceded him to the grave 34 years ago. One son, born to this union, died in infancy. Mr. Greene visited in Meyersdale for Memorial Day every year since the death of his wife, until this year when he was unable to make the trip due to ill health. When here he spent his time at the homes of his sisters-in-law, Misses Maggie and Lillian Baer, and Mrs. William B. Grof, and his nephew, Frederick L. Grof. He was a man of fine character and was loved by all who knew him. He was a thirty-second degree Mason and a Shriner and was very active in these lodges. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. C. Stewart, of Pittsburgh, and a number of nieces and nephews. The body will arrive here at 1:49 a.m. Friday, and be taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick L. Grof, 224 North Street, where the funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock, conducted by Rev. H. K. Hilner of Zion Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements in charge of H. R.
