Howard Dewey Gress, a retired Presbyterian minister who served as pastor of Glade Reformed Church from 1928 to 1935, died Friday in Nashville, Tenn. He was 90. Rev. Gress, a native of Meyersdale and a 1918 graduate of Meyersdale High School, was graduated from George Washington University in 1923 and from the denomination's seminary in 1926. He did post-graduate work at Princeton, Vanderbilt and Temple Universities. He was ordained to the ministry July 21, 1926. During his ministry, he held pastorates in Pitcairn and Roxbury, Pa., and Crescent City and Orlando, Fla. Rev. Gress held a number of church offices on the state and national levels. After his retirement in February of 1969, he served as an interim and supply pastor. He was a brother of Attorney Henry G. Gress of Somerset. Somerset Daily American, December 27, 1989. [G0985]
