Born Jan. 7, 1906 in Summit Mills. A daughter of the late Urias and Sarah Amanda (Shoemaker) Firl. Also preceded in death by her first husband, Dallas Melvin Hemmings in 1935; second husband, Austin Grew in 1973; a sister, Lily Lindeman; brothers, Milton, Walter, Frank and Irvin; son-in-law, William Decker in 1973; and great-granddaughter, Kim Snyder Fetterman in March 2000. Survived by son, Herbert Willis Hemmings and his wife the former Gladys Firle, Summit Mills, a daughter, Margaret Decker, Garrett. Also seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Also a number of nieces and nephews. A member of the Summit Mills Grace Brethren Church. Employed for years at Meyersdale Manufacturing, and later at Grew's Country Store. Graduate of Meyersdale High School Class of 1926. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale. Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Summit Mills Grace Brethren Church with the Rev.
