Grier, age 34, son of Mrs. A. S. Kresge of 503 Main Street, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 10th, in the Highland Hospital, Beacon, N.Y., his death being due to typhus fever, after an illness that lasted only four days. Mrs. Kresge left on Wednesday for Beacon, N.Y., with her son, John, and his wife, and her daughter, Mrs. Marc Buchbinder, and her husband, who drove here Tuesday to break the sad news to their mother. Funeral services and interment will take place at Beacon, N.Y., on Friday afternoon. Samuel Grier spent part of his youth in Meyersdale and was graduated from the local High School with the class of 1917. He was one of the finest athletes that the High School has ever produced, excelling in basketball. His charming personality endeared him to his fellow students and his instructors and all others with whom he came in contact. He was an active member of the Reformed Church during his years in Meyersdale. For the last five years he had charge of male patients in the Matawan Street Hospital, in Beacon, N.Y., where he and his wife made their home. Besides his wife and mother, Mr. Grier is survived by two brothers, John, of Reading, and Eleazer, of Easton, Pa., three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Caldwell of Gehring, Neb., Mrs. Esther Buchbinder, of Orange, N.Y., and Mrs. Helen Hance, of Chester, Pa.
