Griffith, 74, of 265 N. Carlisle St. Lot #36, Greencastle died Feb. 6, 2000 in the home of his brother-in-law Robert McLucas of 8795 Willowdale Rd., Greencastle. He had been in failing health the past several years. Born Feb. 8, 1925 in Somerset, he was the son of the late Paul S. and Lizzie Mae (Lape) Griffith. Also preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Jean (Bittner) Griffith, who died March 27, 1984, and brother Roy Griffith and William Griffith. Surviving are wife Gladys Marie (McLucas) Griffith, whom he married July 10, 1985, in Hagerstown, Md. Sons: Dennis D. Griffith, Fayetteville; Terry Lee Griffith, Berlin, and Donald R. Griffith, McConnellsburg. Step-son Wesley D. Stine, St. Thomas, and step-daughters, Carla J. Kennedy, St. Thomas, and Penny L. Misiak, Greencastle. Five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and one step great-granddaughter. Earlier in his life he worked at Roof Garden and Auto Supplies in Somerset. He attended the Citco United Methodist Church in Citco. Mr. Griffith was a 1943 graduate of Somerset Township High School. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Union Cemetery in McConnellsburg with Chaplain Daniel H. Kelchner Officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Dr., Chambersburg, Pa., 17201 or to the Citco United Methodist Church.
