Griffith, 64, of Somerset, died July 15, 1990, at his residence. Born Nov. 3, 1925, in Johnstown. Son of the late David App and Margaret Elizabeth (Cobaugh) Griffith. Also preceded in death by a brother, David W. Griffith. Survived by wife, the former Janet L. (Rankin) to whom he was married for 42 years, and these children: Bruce E. Griffith, Longview Texas; David A. Griffith, married to the former Debra Bishop, Gaithersburg, Md., and Mrs. Michael A. (Gail) Persuhn, Sipesville; and seven grandchildren. 1943 graduate of Ferndale High School, 1947 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Received his master of education degree in 1953 from Penn State University. A retired music teacher and former band director at Somerset Area High School, retiring in 1983. Member of Christ Casebeer Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was choir director for 27 years. A member of Lodge 358, F.& A.M., and Jaffa Temple. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Monday (today) and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hauger Ziegler Funeral Home, Somerset. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church, Rev. John Timm officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. Masonic service will be at 7:30 Tuesday at the funeral home. No viewing at the church.
