Within sight of his two month old baby daughter, Stanley Griffith, 27 years old, shot and killed himself about 10 o'clock Tuesday morning in his home at Jenners Cross Roads. The fatal shot frightened the baby, and its screams attracted the mother, who was working at the home of her sister, Mrs. Lloyd Maust, only a short distance away. When the mother and others reached the Griffith home, they found Mr. Griffith lying close to the baby with a rifle near him and blood coming from his nose and from a hole in the forehead. The unfortunate man had used a 22 caliber rifle. Alcoholism is given as the cause of the rash deed. Mr. Griffith had been employed in the mines at Jenners No. 2, but had not been working for several days. Besides his wife and two children, the man is survived by his mother, Mrs. Jesse Griffith, and by these brothers and sisters: Dibert, John, Marsh, James and Chester; Mrs. Lloyd Maust, Mrs. Frank Shaffer and Mrs. Harry Mowery, all of that locality except James who is in the West.
