Grimm Sr., 69, of Meyersdale, died Nov. 26, 2002 at Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown. Born Feb. 23, 1933 in Wyano, Pa., a son of the late Frank W. and Mary E. (Kiripolski) Grimm. Also preceded in death by five brothers: William, Frank, Beryl, Robert and Richard "Dick"; four sisters: Thelma, Marie, Margaret and Francis, and an infant son Charles "Chuckie". Survived by his wife of 48 years, the former Mary Alyce Hughes, and these children: Michelle "Michie," wife of Russ Merryman, Somerset; Sheryl "Sheri," wife of Randy Sterne, Cumberland, Md.; Alyce, wife of Jim Edwards, Columbia, Md.; George "Buddy," married to the former Gayle Robertson, Meyersdale; Beth, wife of Michael Bertuzzi, Meyersdale; and Cay, wife of Ray Helinsky, Meyersdale; also 11 grandchildren, Mitchell Merryman, Kevin and Timothy Sterne; Laura, Sarah and Maria Edwards, Seth Grimm, Eden Wolf, Erin Bertuzzi and Ben and Jack Helinski. A brother of: Helen Brockway, Philadelphia; John Grimm, Toledo, Ohio; and Mary Ann Jacobs, Tucson, Ariz. George and his wife Mary Alyce owned and operated the White House Restaurant in Meyersdale from 1972 to 2002. George served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of SS. Philip & James Catholic Church, Meyersdale. George was a compassionate and loving man. He had a wonderful gift of making people laugh and he will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 and 9 p.m. Friday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at SS. Philip & James Catholic Church, Meyersdale, with the Rev. James M. Dugan, celebrant. Committal will follow at SS. Philip & James Cemetery, Meyersdale. Daily American, November 30, 2002 [G1065]
