Grimm, 83, of Mount Pleasant, died Nov. 28, 1993, in Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Born March 22, 1910, in Kecksburg, son of the late Judson Newmyer and Rachel Elizabeth (Porch) Grimm. Graduated from former East Huntingdon High School in 1929. Started serving an apprenticeship in funeral business with Carl Lemon Funeral Home in 1931. Attended Cincinnati College of Embalming and passed the Pa. State Boards in 1933. In 1934 he started the Luther J. Grimm Funeral Home. Was a member of the Mount Pleasant Church of God and held many offices in the church. A former member of the Westmoreland County Funeral Directors Association. Served several years as a director on the board. A former member of Pa. and National Funeral Director associations. Served on Mount Pleasant School Board for many years. Member of Marion Lodge 562, F&AM, Scottdale. Was master of lodge in 1944. Received 50-year pin in 1986 from Marion Lodge 562. Member of Uniontown Lodge of Perfection 14 Degree Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. Member of Pittsburgh Consistory 32nd Degree Westmoreland Forest 77, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, New Alxandria; Youghiogheny Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, Connellsville. Former member of Mount Pleasant Kiwanis Club for 50 years. He was Lt. Gov. of Div. 8 in 1983. Member of B.P.O. Elks 868, Mount Pleasant. Former member of Moss Rose Lodge 350, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Mount Pleasant. Member of Hudson Essex Terraplane Car Club Western Reserve Chapter, Hubbard, Ohio. Member of Olympic Lanes and Hillview Lanes Bowling Leagues and Senior Citizens and Huntingdon Lanes. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Melva (Jones) Grimm; four brothers: Carl, John, Bert, and Edgar Grimm; three sisters: Nellie Smith, Florence Shupe, Mary Seese. He is survived by his wife, Mathilda Chernek (Dunn) Grimm of Mount Pleasant; two sons: Luther J. Grimm II of Acme and Keith Keith J. Grimm of Berlin RD 3; a step-son, J. David Dunn of Gibsonia; four daughters: Shirley Brant of Rockwood RD 1; Nancy Grimm, Mount Pleasant; Connie Strichik, Pottstown, and Kathy Meredith, Mount Pleasant; also 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and one sister, Janet Eicher Kern, Grove City. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Luther J. Grimm Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant. Funeral service at 9 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Pleasant Church of God, with the Revs. Wendell Grimm and Timothy V. Sweigart officiating. Private interment Thursday in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
