Grof Jr., 84, Meyersdale, went to be with his Lord, Oct. 18, 2004, at Meadowview Nursing Center, Berlin. Born March 27, 1920, in Meyersdale, a son of the late Frederick L. Sr. and Nelle (Hady) Grof. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Louise (Forrest) Grof. He is survived by two children, Nancy, wife of Cliff Miller and Kenneth Grof, both of Meyersdale; six grandchildren: Jennifer, wife of Jim Whitacre; Stephanie, wife of Jason Smith; and Hannah and Nicole Grof; David and wife, Jodi; and Jeremy Miller, all of Meyersdale. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Michael and Lillian Whitacre and Blake and Gage Smith, all of Meyersdale. He is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth Ann, wife of Warren Warner, Fort Hill. He and his wife, Mary Louise operated Grof's Market for 23 years. He was a charter member of the Grace Brethren Church, where he served on the official board, deacon, treasurer, Sunday school superintendent, and he organized Boys' Brigade. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in Iran. He was a member of Charles E. Kelly Post 112 A.L. and a former member of the Meyersdale Elks. He was a former Rotarian and Meyersdale Rotary Citizen of the Year. After his retirement, he was a volunteer at the Meyersdale Medical Center and a life member of the Meyersdale Ambulance Association, where he served as an E.M.T. He received his black belt in karate and enjoyed walking. Family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Grace Brethren Church, where a memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. The Rev.
