Groff, 83, of Confluence, died April 7, 1994, at Somerset Hospital. Born July 14, 1910, in Confluence, son of the late Calvin L. and Jennie (Wingenroth) Groff. Survived by wife, the former Jane P. Walton; two sons: George L. "Skip" Jr. of Somerset, and Charles E. of Confluence; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and a twin brother, Charles D. of Beaver Falls. Preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. Retired schoolteacher, serving 40 years in the Turkeyfoot Valley School District. Member of PSEA, Trinity Lutheran Church of Confluence, and Ursina American Legion Post 946. Former Confluence Scoutmaster. A graduate of California State Teachers College. U.S., Army veteran of World War II. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday from Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. William Triebe officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
