    Charles William Gross Sr., 77, of Somerset died May 17, 2001 at Somerset
  Hospital, Somerset.  Born July 21, 1923 in Somerset.  Son of Harvey
  Franklin and Goldie (Marshall) Gross.  Preceded in death by parents, wife
  Carrie Jane (Slickerman) Gross who died Dec. 30, 1990; brothers, Norman and
  Jacob Gross; sisters, Martha Tipton, Mary West, Alice Brawley, and Sarah
  Freshman.  Survived by children: Larry E. Gross married to the former Diane
  Pyle of Friedens; Charles W. Gross Jr. married to the former Sandra Beeman
  of Somerset; Mrs. Robert L. (Nancy J.) Miller of Beaver; Miss Kimberly Ann
  Gross of Alexandria, Va.  Also six grandchildren and eight
  great-grandchildren.  Brother of Lester Gross of Rockwell, N.C.; Mrs.
  Jennie Miller of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mrs. Thomas (Ann) Shoemaker of
  Waynesboro, Va.  Member of Calvary United Methodist Church, U.S. Army
  Veteran of World War II.  Member of VFW Post 554.  Retired mechanic with
  former Roy Shaulis and Son.  Also owned and operated the Gross Garage in
  Lavansville for many years.  No viewing or visitation.  Service will be
  conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Somerset,
  with Rev. Raymond E. Lyon officiating.  Interment, Somerset County Memorial
  Park.  Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Somerset
  Chapter, 168 West Union St., Somerset, Pa. 15501.  Arrangements by
  Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset.
