    Irvin "Merle" Gross, 76, of Ankeny Avenue, Somerset, died Aug. 6, 1999,
  at Somerset Hospital.  Born Sept. 12, 1922, in Belltown, son of the late
  Lloyd and Margaret (Knee) Gross.  Preceded in death by son, Ronald M.
  Gross.  Survived by wife of 51 years, Mary Jane (Judy) Gross; sons, Thomas
  W. and Gary I. Gross both of Somerset; and Gene L. Gross (married to the
  former Marlene Dublinsky) of Pleasantville, N.J.; grandchildren, Rebecca L.
  (Gross) Flyte, married to Richard Flyte of Friedens, and Thomas W. Gross Jr.
  (and friend Debra Hauger) of Pittsburgh; also one great-grandchild, Michael
  Flyte.  Brother of Helen M. Miller of Somerset and Ray H. Gross (married to
  the former Patricia Heining) of Tucson, Ariz.  He was a journeyman lineman
  for Union Local No. 126 I.B.E.W. for 34 years.  He was also sexton at
  Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church for 10 years.  Friends will be received
  2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset.  A funeral
  service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran
  Church, Somerset, pastor Robert Hoover officiating.  Interment Husband
  Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical
  Lutheran Church, 918 Tayman Avenue, Somerset, Pa. 15501.
