GROWALL Rockwood lost a venerable and prominent citizen last Sunday, when Ananias J. Growall passed away. He had been ill of pneumonia only nine days. Mr. Growall, who was aged 79 years and 8 months, was a son of Anthony and Sarah (Lee) Growall, early settlers of Rockwood. By helping his father, a skillful carpenter, he also became an expert mechanic while still a young man. His father, having in 1872 erected a planing mill, the son for some years assisted in its operation. Mr. Growall later at various times engaged respectively in the furniture, undertaking, hardware and plumbing businesses. He showed commendable interest in civic, school and church affairs. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, in the United Brethren Church of Rockwood, of which he was a consistent member for many years. A former pastor, Rev. J. D. Farnsworth, of Altoona, assisted by the present pastor, Rev. D. N. Ciampi, officiated. Interment was made in the Hauger Church Cemetery in Black Township. The funeral directors were Mills & Mickey, of Rockwood. Mr. Growall's wife died several years ago. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Catherine Dwire, of Rockwood.
