Mrs. Guard died in the Frantz Hospital, Confluence, on Sunday morning, from a cerebral hemorrhage. Her sudden death was a shock to her host of friends throughout the entire community. The deceased was in apparent good health. She had spent all day Saturday with her usual household duties, when she took suddenly ill during the evening. Mrs. Guard was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Fox, of Friendsville, Md., and was born at Accident, Md., April 26, 1885. Her age was 47 years, 2 months and 28 days. She is survived by her husband, Dorsey Guard, her mother-in-law, Mrs. James Guard, and the following children: Frederick, Mary, Jessie, Harry, Leslie, Johnny and Jane, all at home. She leaves also her father and mother and one brother, Arnold E. Fox, of Friendsville, and three sisters: Mrs. L. K. Young, Oberlin, Pa.; Mrs. C. C. Brown, Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. G. T. Shields, Washington, D.C. Early in life she united with the Lutheran church of Friendsville, and after her marriage became a member of the Southern Methodist church at Guard in which she continued a faithful member until her death. She was not only a kind and loving wife and mother, but was a woman of unusual personality, which was an inspiration to all who knew her. Funeral services were conducted at the home, Tuesday, July 26, at two o'clock, by Rev. C. G. Russell, of the Southern Methodist Church of Guard. He was assisted by Rev. T. E. Shea of the Methodist church of Friendsville, and Rev. A. B. Harper of the Accident Lutheran Church. Singing was by the Grantsville Quartet and Rev. Shea. Interment in the Mill Run Cemetery. Among relatives and friends from a distance attending the funeral were the following: Mr. and Mrs. M. A. King, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. King, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Goodwin, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Cramer, Mrs. Clyde Rosenberry, all of Uniontown; Mrs. Frazee, Connellsville; Mrs. Ada Umble and family, Markleysburg, Pa.; Rev. L. K. Young, Oberlin, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Brown, Cleveland, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Shields, Washington, D.C.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Guard, Braddock, Pa.; Mrs. Maude Kolbaugh, Luke, Md.; Mrs. Mary Harris and Miss Hazel Poland, Westernport, Md.; Miss Anna Egan, Midland, Md.
