He was born Oct. 26, 1910, in Johnstown, son of Michael and Mary (Mylant) Gyauch. He was preceded in death by parents; son, Col. Michael, U.S.A.F., died in 1984; step-mother, former Helen Gordan; and sister, Victoria Dioguardi. He is survived by wife, former Helen Datko, and son, Col. (retired) U.S.A.F. Charles, married to former Barbara Witt, Oakton, Va., and daughter-in-law, Lorraine, widow of Michael, Bethlehem; also eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was a brother of: Mary, wife of John Senish, Johnstown; Michael, married to former Margaret Laco, Johnstown; and Marie, wife of Louis Weissman, New York. Owned and operated grocery store in Eighth Ward before moving to Meyersdale and owned and operated grocery store here, then moved to Riverside, Calif., in 1960.
