Habel, died at her home in Markleton, last Friday morning, less than one week after the death of her husband on Saturday, Aug. 3, as reported in last week's issue of The Republican. She was five years older than her husband. She was born near Hyndman, Sept. 20, 1864, and was aged 81 years, 10 months and 19 days when she passed away. The aged couple would have been married 50 years had they lived until Sept. 2, next. She is survived by one brother, John Wagner of Hyndman, and one brother-in- law, the venerable William H. Habel, of Meyersdale. She and her husband were a childless couple. Mrs. Habel had been ill for a year preceding her death. Her husband had also been ill a long time before his death, and during the last year it was a question which would pass first. By reason of the difference between their ages she and most of their friends expected that she would be outlived by Mr. Habel, but he preceded her in death by six days. Mrs. Habel as well as her husband was a member of Amity Reformed Church of Meyersdale. Her body, like that of her husband was taken to Hyndman for funeral services and interment, which took place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Rev. John Bucher, pastor of the Reformed Church at Hyndman officiating. Burial was in the Hyndman Cemetery, by the side of her husband's remains. Meyersdale Republican, August 15, 1946
