EMMA FRANCES HABEL

  Mrs. Emma Frances (Troutman) Habel, wife of William H. Habel, died Thursday 
night, November 13, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. 
Clarence Rowe of Salisbury Street, after an illness of several months.  She was 
born in Southampton Township, the daughter of Jacob Troutman and Anna Fair 
Troutman, March 11, 1859, and had reached the age of 88 years, 8 months and 2 
days.
  She is survived by her husband W. H. Habel, 91 years of age, a well known 
retired businessman of Meyersdale, two sons, Harry F. of Sand Patch, and John A. 
of Cumberland, and one daughter, Emma F. Rowe of Meyersdale; also by three 
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Anna E. Deneen of 
Akron, O.
  Mrs. Habel was a member of Amity Evangelical and Reformed Church, a member of 
the order of Eastern Star and of Great Crossings Chapter of D.A.R.  Until August 
of this year when her health made a serious decline she took an active interest 
in the groups in which she had membership, attending meetings as often as she 
could and enjoying social contact with her large circle of friends.
  Mr. and Mrs. Habel were married June 15, 1883, and spent most of their long 
married life in Meyersdale where he was formerly in business in a general store 
with C. A. Phillips, and was for many years a director of the Second National 
Bank.  Several years ago, due to advancing age they gave up their own home to 
live with their daughter, Mrs. Rowe.  When Mrs. Habel's condition became serious 
during the summer her husband went to live with their son Harry, and Mrs. Habel 
was given loving and tender care by her daughter until the end.
  Funeral services were held at the Rowe home at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, 
with Rev. Nelson C. Brown officiating.  Interment in Union Cemetery under the 
direction of W. C. Price and Son.  Among those attending the funeral from out of 
town were Clarence Rowe of Akron, O., Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mankameyer of Kent, 
O., Mr. and Mrs. William Habel of Lancaster, Mr. and Mrs. John Habel of 
Cumberland, Md., Annie Deneen and members of her family of Akron and a number of 
relatives from Baltimore.
