He was preceded in death by parents and a sister, Mary Truxal. He is survived by his wife, Christine M. (Belsterling) Hackwelder; four daughters: Kathleen Kotchey, Altoona; Christine Autore, Pittsburgh; Theresa Shaulis, Champion; and Marie Cronin, Beloxi, Miss.; four sons: Joseph P., Somerset RD 6; Thomas, Maryland; Richard, Rockwood; and Philip, Roxbury; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; three brothers: William P., Plum Borough; John R., White Oak; and Edward R., Jeannette. He was a machine molder for Somerset Foundry. Veteran of World War II, U.S. Army. Friends were received at the Gene H. Corl Funeral Chapel, Inc., 4335 Northern Pike, Monroeville.
