He was born December 13, 1876, at Accident, Md., the son of Alexander Haenftling and his wife Margaret nee George. On August 12, 1902, he was married to Katharine Burkhard. They have been life-long residents in the vicinity of Accident. Mr. Haenftling was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church, Accident. For a time, he served as an elder of the church. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Elfreda Liebman of Fort Wayne, Ind.; Paul, of Fort Wayne; Urban, of Baltimore; Leonard and Carl, of Accident, and by 12 grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Nicklow, Mrs. William Dunham, Friendsville; Mrs. Clarence Spear, Oakland, and one brother, Walter, Accident. Funeral rites were conducted at Zion Lutheran Church at Accident, Tuesday, March 23, with Rev. C. F. Dauphin officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, April 1, 1948
