Born Sept. 14, 1938 in Wilbur, he is the son of Carrie V. (Maust) Haines Gasper and the late Oscar M. Haines. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. (Fuller) Haines; three sons; Douglas Owen Haines and wife, Heidi, Meyersdale, David Dewayne Haines and fiancee, Marla, Salisbury, Daniel Avery Haines and wife, Carol, West Salisbury; two brothers, John Haines, Pensacola, Fla., Steve Gasper, Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Karen Bolden, Carlisle; seven grandchildren: Shawn, Jennifer, Jeremy, Emily, Kelly, Kendra and Kierra and one niece and three nephews. Member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Retired Nov. 17, 2001 as purchasing agent from Maple Mountain Industries. Former member of Salisbury Fire Dept., Salisbury American Legion, Salisbury Lions Club and as an EMT for Salisbury Area Ambulance Association. A U.S. Army veteran. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury where a service will be conducted on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
