Hamer Sr., 65, Berlin RD 4, died Oct. 26, 1982, in Somerset Community Hospital. He was born July 8, 1917, in Liberty Borough, a son of Howard and Clara (Davis) Hamer. He was preceded in death by parents, brother, Edward W. Hamer, and half-brother, Clayton D. McDonald. He is survived by his stepfather, William McDonald, Berlin RD 4; his wife Helen (Fisher) Hamer; and these children, Robert M. Jr., Greenville, S.C.; Carol, wife of the Rev. John Hayes, Clymer; and Richard W., at home; one brother, George Hamer, Huntingdon; and the following half-brothers and half-sisters: Malcom McDonald, Jennerstown; Donald McDonald, Sarasota, Fla.; Cathy Grove, Beaver Falls; William R. McDonald, North Huntingdon; and Anna Cappalonga, Philadelphia; and eight grandchildren. He was a member of Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle, a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Navy; Disabled American Veterans; and a retired farmer. Friends were received at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where services were conducted with the Rev. Chauncey J. Ickes. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. The Republic, November 4, 1982 [H0120]
