Hamilton, 78, of Jerome, died June 19, 2004 at UPMC Lee Regional Hospital, Johnstown. Born April 21, 1926 in Osceola Mills, son of John T. and Ester Mae (James) Hamilton. Preceded in death by parents; brothers Don, Dave, Dennis, Jack, Francis and Clifford James; sister, Margaret; five infant grandsons; two infant granddaughters and one infant great-granddaughter. Survived by wife, the former Susan Wanko; children Barbara Panasci and Sandra, married to Samuel Wills, both of Jerome, Janet Shaffer, Johnstown, Ruth, married to William Lape, Shippensburg, and William, married to Melissa Lepley, Boswell. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and sister Ellen Fedora, Twin Rocks. Observed 57th wedding anniversary May 3, 2004. Retired from Johnstown Local 1288 USWA with 35 years of service. An army veteran of World War II. Past Commander of Jerome Post 802 American Legion and past Somerset County Commander. Member of Hollsopple Post 8861 VFW, Somerset Post 181 American Legion and Somerset County Honor Guard. Also a member of Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, Jennerstown. Bill enjoyed many hours of working with wood as a member of the Handy Man Club. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Jacquelyn Ahern officiating.
