    Janet Smith Hammer, 78, of Edgewood, Md., formerly of Somerset, died Oct.
  1, 1999.  Beloved wife of Kenneth E. Hammer.  Daughter of the late George H.
  and Lorena (Pile) Smith.  Loving mother of Dianna J. Lemnah and grandmother
  of David K. Lemnah.  A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today at
  McComas Funeral Home, P.A., Abingdon, Md.  Interment, Bel Air Memorial
  Gardens, Bel Air, Md.  Those who desire may contribute to the American
