Hammond, the latter associated in business some years ago in this place with S. C. Hartley, died in the Allegany Hospital in Cumberland on Tuesday night from typhoid fever. The young man who was a attorney had the promise of a brilliant career, have recently graduated from the University of Virginia. He was the center of his parents' hopes and being their only son, they having no daughters, their loss is indeed, heavy. The family went from this place to the South, perhaps ten years ago and later moved to Oakland, Md., their present home. Mrs. S. C. Hartley and Mrs. Hammond are sisters, and Mrs. Wm. Irwin and Mrs. John Cover are sisters of Mr. Hammond. Mr. and Mrs. Hartley and their son went to Cumberland on Wednesday. Meyersdale Commercial, Dec. 24, 1914
