    Norman S. Handwerk, 88, of Berlin, died Sept. 22, 1999, in Meadow View
  Nursing Center in Berlin.  Born April 15, 1911, in Brothersvalley
  Township.  Son of Frank and Ada (Baer) Handwerk.  Preceded in death by
  parents; his first wife, the former Edna Martz; second wife, the former
  Alma Boyer; daughter Geraldine and sister Mae Gray.  Survived by sisters:
  Ruth Barkley, New Jersey, and Hazel Walker, Hadley; stepchildren:
  Bernadine, married to William Webreck of Berlin, and Donald Blough, married
  to the former Kay Hillegas, of New Freedom.  He was a retired manager of
  Snyder of Berlin, World War II Army veteran.  Member of Holy Trinity
  Lutheran Church, Berlin; Berlin American Legion and VFW; Meyersdale Lodge
  554, F.& A.M.  Past president and past chief of the Berlin Volunteer Fire
  Department.  Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at
  Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday,
  with Rev. Melvin A. Kirk Jr. and Rev. Ralph G. Landis.  Interment, Berlin
  IOOF Cemetery.  Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday.  Fire
  company memorial service at 8 p.m. Thursday
