December 22, 1922, in Gortner, near Oakland, MD, he was the son of the late Isaac E. and Georgia A. Hardesty, Grantsville, MD. He was preceded in death by his sister, Audrey M. Edwards, Grantsville, MD and a grandson, Wyatt Catherman, Hagerstown, MD. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Urbas) Hardesty; three children; Linda (and Wayne) Bolden, McHenry, MD; Guy Wayne (and Linda) Hardesty, Salisbury, PA; Kim (and Stephen) Wagoner, Hagerstown, MD; eight grandchildren, Jesika, Cobenn (and Barbie), Jarrett and Skyler Bolden, Shana Hardesty (and Matt) Rhoten and Tanya Hardesty (and Matt) Kamalsky, Jordanna and Hailey Catherman; two step-grandchildren; David and Jason Wagoner; three great-grandchildren; Ana and Easton Rhoten and Mariah Bolden. He is also survived by his sister, Pearl I. Davis, Medfold, Oregon. He was a self-employed hardware merchant serving as former proprietor of Hardesty's True Value, now owned and operated by his son, Guy Wayne Hardesty. He was also a WW2 Army veteran. He was a member of Saint Michael's Catholic Church, West Salisbury, PA, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the American Legion Post 214 and the Woodsmen of the World. Mass of Christian burial was held at Saint Michael's Catholic Church, West Salisbury, PA, on Friday, July 21 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Albert J. Anselmi officiating. Interment, St. Michael's Cemetery.
