Harding, for many years a well known resident of Glade City, died at the family home early Sunday morning. Mr. Harding was a son of Frederick and Julia Harding, and was born in Frostburg, Md., August 7, 1867, being aged at the time of his death 83 years, 5 months and 5 days. More than 50 years ago the Harding family located in the Meyersdale locality, and for a number of years Herbert and other members of the family were employed in the Savage Fire Brick Company's works at Keystone Junction, during the time that enterprise was conducted by the late James J. Hobiltzell. In later years, when the brick works closed down, Mr. Harding followed mining, his last employment being in the capacity of a watchman for the Western Maryland Railway Company. Surviving are these children: John, Lewis and Ira Harding, Mrs. Minnie Miller, Mrs. Ethel Murray and Mrs. Julia Forrest, of Meyersdale R.D. He also leaves 32 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren, together with one brother and two sisters, Joseph Harding and Mrs. Laura Glover, residing in the state of Michigan, and Mrs. Lloyd Wiland, of New York City. Funeral services were held in the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, by the pastor, Rev. DeWitt L. Miller, with interment in Union Cemetery under the direction of R. Reich and Son, Meyersdale morticians. Meyersdale Republican, January 16, 1941 ---- OBIT: Herbert G. Harding, 83, died late Sunday at his home near Meyersdale after an extended illness. He was a son of Fred and Julia Harding and was born in Frostburg, Md. August 7, 1857. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are these children: John, Lewis and Ira Harding, Mrs. Minnie Miller, Mrs. Ethel Murray and Mrs. Julia Forrest, all of Meyersdale. He also leaves 32 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren and these sisters and brother: Mrs. Lloyd Wiland of New York City, Mrs. Laura Glover and Joseph Harding of Michigan.
