"Jack" Harding, 66, Berlin, died Sept. 15, 2004, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Dec. 12, 1937, in Glade City, he is the son of Ira and Myrtle (Fisher) Harding. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Beth Ann and a brother, Allen. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, the former Mary Jane Bishop; daughter, Jacqueline, married to Jeff Good; a son John F. Jr., married to the former Missy Barclay, both of Berlin; grandchildren: Tyler and Kelsey Good and Alyssa Harding and a brother Ira "Bunk" and his wife, Janice Harding, Berlin. He was a graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School class of 1955 and served as a jet mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. In 1960 he entered into and graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, serving with Troop E in Erie, and Troop A in Greensburg, spending 11 years at the Somerset barracks before retiring in June of 1978. While serving in Somerset he organized the "Keystone Kops Basketball Team" which included both state and local police. After retiring he bought and currently owns the East End Tavern in Berlin and with the help of his patrons he formed the "Over the Hill Marching Band." He also was president and helped organize the Berlin Little League and helped build the Little League Field. He also coached in the Jr. and Sr. American Legion League, the AAABA League in Johnstown, and was an assistant baseball coach for Berlin Brothersvalley High School. He also coached in the Southern Somerset County League and then was a player-manager for the Clark Johnson Millionaires and Bakersville in the Somerset-Cambria County Senior League. He was past president of the Somerset County Old-Timers Baseball Association, member of Berlin Lions Club and recipient of the Lions Citizen of the Year award in 1997, and a member of the Berlin Football Boosters. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where a service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. James E.
