Hare, Sr. 94, Somerset, died Sunday at the Allegheny Lutheran Home, Johnstown. Born May 3, 1884 in Meyersdale, son of the late John J. and Katherine (Donges) Hare. Preceded in death by wife, the former Ellen Alice Machin, and these children: Karl I., Clyde E., Katherine E. and Elizabeth Humberson, two sisters and one brother. Survived by the following children: Fred P. Jr., of Linwood, N.J., a former state senator; John (Jack) of Somerset; and Mrs. James R. (Mary Alice) Reesman of Johnstown; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Police, Sheriffs Association of American, lifetime member of the Somerset Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the U.M.W.A. Former chief of police and mayor of Meyersdale, former Somerset County detective and former sheriff and deputy sheriff of Somerset County. Friends received after 2 p.m. Monday in the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. H. James Meyers officiating. Interment, Union Cemetery, Meyersdale.
