   William R. Harkcom, 83, Somerset, died May 19, 2008, at The Patriot. Born June 1, 1924,
  in Somerset Township, the son of the late Ray W. and Leora M. (Shaulis) Harkcom. Also
  preceded in death by a daughter, Leora; sisters, Bernice Gray and Faye Meyers; and
  brothers, Elwood, Clifford and Guy. Survived by his former wife, Rose; a son, Wayne
  Harkcom, California; and brothers, Luther and James Harkcom, both of Somerset. Attended
  Roof Garden Christian Church and was retired from the U.S. Navy as a super chief petty
  officer. A 1944 graduate of Somerset High School and was a member of the American Legion,
  VFW and the Naval Reserve Fleet Association. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to
  9 p.m. Tuesday at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, Somerset, where service will be
  conducted 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Roy Worsham officiating. Interment in Weller Cemetery
