Ruth Harmon, 80, formerly of Dover and Sugarcreek, Ohio, died Feb. 3, 1997, at Morning View Care Center, New Philadelphia, Ohio, after extended illness. Born Feb. 16, 1916, at Cumberland, Md. Daughter of the late Clyde W. and Mary Savannah Haer Grove. Retired from the Dover Hardware in Dover, where she worked as a cashier and bookkeeper. A 1933 graduate of Rockwood High School and a former member of the American Legion in Sugarcreek, Ohio. Married to the late Ford W. Harmon, who died in 1965. Survived by daughter, Shirley Marquis, Houston, Texas; son, Richard E. and wife Carol Harmon of New Philadelphia; sisters: Mrs. Wilmer "Clova" Coughenour, Somerset; Mrs. Rosalie Uphouse, Somerset, and Mrs. Wayne "Mary Katherine" McDonald, Washington, Pa.; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A brother, Mark Grove, and 2 infant brothers and a sister are also deceased. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. Interment, East Lawn Cemetery, Sugarcreek, Ohio. Family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 122 Third Street, N.W., New Philadelphia, Ohio, 44663.
