Harris, 71, of Berlin, died Jan. 24, 1993, at the VA Medical Center, Pittsburgh. He was born Oct. 27, 1921, in Rocky Mount, N.C., son of Jessie Harris and Rosa Harris-Williams. Preceded in death by parents; son, William, and brother, McDonald. Survived by his wife of 48 years, the former Lois Grasser; daughters - Jenny Lynn, married to James E. Suder of Berlin RD 3, and Virginia, married to Ronald May of Berlin; grandchildren, Tabitha, Heather and Melissa Suder, Shaun and Ronald May Jr. and Michelle Harris. He was a brother of Vera Capps of Summerville, S.C.; Ellen White of Advance, N.C.; Elise Blackwell of Fort Worth, Texas; Randolph Harris of Newport News, Va.; James Harris of Portsmouth, Va., and Charles Williams of Burlington, N.C. He owned and operated Harris Bakery in Berlin for 38 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Berlin and Berlin American Legion. Member and past president of Berlin Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of Berlin Borough Council. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Rev. Melvin A. Kirk Jr. officiating. Interment, Berlin IOOF Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Fire company service will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
