Hartley was found dead in bed in his room at the Aracoma Hotel, Logan, W.Va., on Tuesday morning, November 11, after failing to respond to his 6 o'clock call. Death was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been employed in Logan for several years as an accountant for the George's Creek Coal Co. He was born in Pittsburgh, March 24, 1877, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hartley. He resided in Meyersdale for many years and before his employment in West Virginia, was employed by various coal companies in Meyersdale and vicinity as a special accountant. Surviving are his wife, Nellie (Gray) Hartley, and three daughters, Mrs. Frank Coder, Jr., at home; Mrs. Leonard Beynon, Meyersdale; and Mrs. James Whetzell, at home. A half-brother, Earl B. Steiding, also survives. Funeral services will be held at the Hartley home, Meyers Ave., at 2:30 o'clock on Friday afternoon, by Rev. Sherwood Keiser, pastor of the local Methodist Church, of which Mr. Hartley was a member. He was also a member of the local Masonic Lodge. Interment in Union Cemetery will be in charge of H. R.
