"Bud" Hay, 58, Meyersdale RD 3, died May 26, 1983, d.o.a. Somerset Community Hospital. Born Sept 7, 1924, in Elk Lick Township, a son of Althea (Engle) Hay of Meyersdale RD 4 and the late Edward R. Hay. Survived by his wife, the former Julia (Maust) Grew. Survived by these children: Edward R. and Miss Becky, both at home; three step-sons: Ron Grew, Tallmadge, Ohio; Mark Grew, Salisbury; and Terry Grew, Newport News, Va.; and a granddaughter, Michelle Grew. A brother of: Mrs. Jean James, Meyersdale RD 4; Mrs. Eleanor Witt, Mechanicsburg; Mrs. Ruth Miller and Mrs. Lela Vena, both of Meyersdale RD 1. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Paul Wilhelm United Church of Christ. He was a Somerset County Commissioner since 1967 and served as a county treasurer for a four-year term. He was a member of board of directors Somerset County Fair, Pennsylvania Farmers' Assn., Talus Rock Girl Scout Council, the Meyersdale Rotary, Elks Lodge No. 1951, VFW Post No.3504, and the State Transportation Commission. He was past member of the church consistory, and he was Meyersdale Citizen of the Year in 1973. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale. Services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the St. Paul Wilhelm United Church of Christ where the body will lie in state from 1 p.m. until time of service with the Rev. Lloyd Sechriest officiating. Interment, church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heart Fund. Daily American, May 28, 1983 [H0509]
