Hay Sr., 89, of Jennerstown died Nov. 22, 1997, at Siemon Lakeview Manor Estate. Born Oct. 4, 1908, in Jenner Township. Son of John H. and Cora (Beener) Hay. Preceded in death by parents; infant sister, Martha Ann, and two infant grandchildren. Survived by wife, the former Marguerite Holder; children: Joan, widow of James Avery, Acosta; Arnold G. Jr. married to Mary Rose Mihoch, Pittsburgh; James R., married to Janet Lee Trible, and Edward A., both of Jennerstown; nine grandchildren, including a special grandson, Allan Hay; five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Brother of Virginia, wife of Charles Walker, Phoenix, Ariz., and Merle O., married to Edith Miller, Ligonier. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Member of Jennerstown United Methodist Church where he was a former head usher and served on various committees. Life member of Johnstown Lodge 48, LOOM, and Woodmen of the World. President of the Jenner Cross Roads Cemetery Association. Also member of the NRA and was an avid hunter. Retired master wood craftsman for the Boswell Lumber Co. with over 52 years service. Observed 67th wedding anniversary July 12, 1997. Descendant of Simon Hay who settled in the Somerset County area in the 1760s. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jennerstown United Methodist Church, Rev. John Guerre and the Rev. Paul Scruton officiating.
