Hay, 83, Rockwood, passed on December 9, 2007, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born July 20, 1924, in Milford Township, he is the son of the late James O. and Hazel (Speicher) Hay. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, James B. Hay; an infant sister; and grandson, Jason Rosemeier. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Agnes (Svonavec) Hay; daughters, Linda Hoppa and husband, James, Townsend, Tenn.; Sharon Schrock and friend, Phil Kowal, Somerset; Leslie Miller and husband, Richard, Rockwood; Mary Ann Nist and husband, Joseph, Rockwood; grandchildren, Cory Rosemeier, Nikki Klawitter, Krista and Derek Schrock, Lori Banks, Tammy Smith, Nathan and Matthew Miller, and Joanna and Amy Nist; great-grandchildren, Shawnna, Ethan and Caroline Rosemeier, and Alayna Hoskin. Also survived by brother, Morris W. Hay and wife, Marcella, Morris, Ill.; sisters, Lillian Kaufman and husband, Ray, Chambersburg; and Rose Marie Keichel and husband, Harold, Cleveland. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, a retired partner in Svonavec Coal Co., and a longtime farmer in Milford Township. He loved hunting, collecting tractors, gardening, bowling, and watching local sporting events. Also, he was a great Pirates and Steelers fan. He was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church. Friends will be received 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with the vigil for the deceased at 1 p.m., at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Church. Monsignor Samuel Tomaselli, celebrant. Committal at Somerset County Memorial Park with full military rites accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard.
