She was a beloved sister, aunt, educator, friend and world traveler, and had a passion for Penn State. Born on Sept. 9, 1916, in Jefferson Township, daughter of the late Warren and Ida (Ream) Hay. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Frances L. Patterson, and an infant brother and sister. Survived by one brother, Jay O. Hay Sr., Somerset; and several nephews and nieces: David W. Hay, Ann H. Cober, Susan M. Halverson, Jay O. Hay Jr. and John W. Hay, all of Somerset; Beverly A. Hull, Monroe, Wis., and Roy W. Patterson, Oklahoma City, Okla. A member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Somerset. She earned her teaching certificate at California State Teachers College and a masters in education at Pennsylvania State University. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Aug. 5 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ. Interment will be at Somerset County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 202 W. Union St., Somerset, Pa. 15501.
