Hay, a native of Somerset County, died Monday, December 6, at his home in Chicago. He was a son of Benjamin G. and Harriet Glessner Hay and was born Sept. 21, 1868, in Brothersvalley Township. He was educated in the public schools and Franklin and Marshall College, graduating from the latter in 1891. He later graduated from the theological seminary in Lancaster. Dr. Hay served Reformed churches in Pennsylvania, virginia, Ohio and Illinois. He is survived by his wife, Mrs Elvora Walker Hay, and the following children: Leona, wife of Clarence Stroupe, Chicago; Edna, wife of Benjamin Sipe, Chicago; Rev. Ellis Walker Hay, Indianapolis, Ind.; Evelyn, wife of Rev. Rudolph Schultz, Tenn. One daughter died in infancy. The following brothers and sisters survive: Rev. Benjamin K. Hay, Front Royal, Va.; Mrs. W. H. B. Carney, Staten Island, N.Y.; William F. Hay, Berlin R.D. 3. One brother preceded him in death, Clarence H. Hay. His body was brought to his native heath in care of Johnson & Son, Berlin, for burial. The funeral will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Hay Reformed Church in Brothersvalley Twp., with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. F. D. Witmer will conduct the services.
