Hay, 94, West Fairview St., Somerset, died Aug. 23, 1979, Somerset Community Hospital. Born May 20, 1885, in Rockwood, son of the late William and Hanna (Wolfersberger) Hay. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ella McVicker, two sons, three brothers and five sisters. He is survived by a son, Dr. Harold S. Hay, Somerset RD 4, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. He was a member and elder emeritus of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Somerset, member of Cambria Lodge No. 278 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory, Somerset Rotary Club, Phi Beta Kappa. Supervising principal of Somerset School District from 1934-51, graduate of California State Normal School, received additional degrees from Penn State, and a doctor's degree in education from University of Pittsburgh. Former Mayor of Somerset. Friends were received at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home where services were conducted with the Rev. Richard Shellenberger officiating. Interment, Rockwood Cemetery.
