Hay, 76, of 320 Somerset Ave., Jerome, died March 22, 1978, at Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. Born Oct. 13, 1901, in Meyersdale, he was a son of William and Mary (Cox) Hay. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Carl. He is survived by his widow, the former Mary Stickley; two daughters: Patsy, wife of John Shaffer, Jerome, and Linda, wife of Roger McGinley, Melcroft; step-son, Albert Menhorn, married to former Mariene Farner, Meyersdale; four grandchildren; John and Bruce Shaffer, Brian and Shawna McGinley. He was a brother of: Mrs. Marie Nevitt, Louisville, Ky.; John, Meyersdale; Robert, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Helen Wagner-Weaver, Buckstown, Stoystown RD; Mrs. Leona Bowman, Hershey; and William, Meyersdale. He was a member of Jerome Lutheran Church, where he formerly served on the church council, and was also a member of UMWA, Johnstown Local No. 1040. Services were held Saturday at the Joseph G. Hoffman Funeral Home with the Rev. George A. Clark officiating. Interment, Maple Springs Cemetery. Meyersdale Republic, March 30, 1978 [H0547]
