Born Oct. 6, 1908, in Somerset Township, the son of the late W.J.R. and Nellie (Mason) Hay. Also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Survived by his wife, the former Ferne Hentz, and these children: Audrey M., Altoona; George W., married to the former Judy Hoover, Rockwood RD 3; Ferne Grace, Washington D.C.; Bryan H., married to the former Judy Kline, Rockwood RD 3; and John M., married to the former Rama Kemp, Alexandria, Va.; also five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Brother of Warren K., Somerset RD 6; Anna Berkley, Berlin RD 3; James O., Somerset; and Etta Stahl, Somerset RD 3. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Somerset, where he served as an elder, and held various offices in the church and Sunday school. Also a member of the Somerset County Farmers Association and the Pennsylvania Farmers Association. He was a lifelong farmer in Somerset County. Death ends a marriage of 48 years. Friends were received Monday and will be received Tuesday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Joseph Beer and Mr. Jay Shaffer officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. The body will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ. Somerset Daily American, August 11, 1987 [H0553]
