Hay, 95, of Jennerstown, died Feb. 18, 1976 at Somerset Community Hospital. Born March 13, 1880 in Brothersvalley Township, Somerset County, son of John Oliver and Martha E. Countryman Hay. Preceded in death by parents, an infant daughter, Martha Ann; three sisters; four brothers; two great grandsons and one great granddaughter. Survived by his widow, the former Cora Beener and these children: Arnold G., married to the former Marguerite Holder, of Jennerstown; Virginia, wife of Charles Walker, of Durango, Col.; Merle O., married to the former Edith Miller, of Ligonier; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons. Was a brother of Jay O. of Newark, Del. and Merle C. of Jennerstown. Member of Mt. Laurel United Church of Christ. A charter member of the former Lodge 1172 I.O.O.F., Boswell. He was a retired woodworker. Mr. and Mrs. Hay would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary April 6, 1976. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Joseph G. Hoffman Funeral Home, 409 Main St., Boswell, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Paul H. Scruton officiating. Interment, Reformed Cemetery, Jennerstown.
