Hay, 87, of Rockwood, passed on Aug. 8, 2002 at Edgewood Nursing Center in Youngstown. Born Dec. 10, 1914 in Meyersdale. Daughter of William and Annie (Merrill) Bittner. Preceded in death by her parents; husband William Hay in 1987; sister Annie Forespring, Mildred Burke, Agnes Wagner and brother Richard Bittner. Survived by son George, married to Carol (Gard) Hay of Irwin and daughters Susan, married to Ron Shellhammer of Kittaning and Sally, married to David Deist of Somerset. Also grandchildren Amy O'Connor, Julie Hay, Jessica Baker, Abby Mazer, Molly Atwood and Adam Shellhammer. She was a member of the Trinity Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, The Somerset Archeological Society, and the Somerset County Historical Society. She was a member of the Trinity Reform Church in Rockwood and was a former secretary at Rockwood High School. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Rev. Mark Bender officiating.
