Pleasant. He was born April 9, 1889, in Dunbar, the son of the late John and Mary (Garrison) Hay. Was a resident of the Mill Run area for most of his life. He was the last surviving charter member of the Bear Run Church of the Brethren. He worked as a farmer and for the U.S. Postal Service from which he retired after 29 years of service. Was a member of the Ohiopyle Grange, the Modern Woodmen of America, and the Ohiopyle Odd Fellows No. 1933. He is survived by his wife, Goldie Tissue Hay, with whom he would have celebrated his 72nd wedding anniversary on Sept 11, 1987. Four sons: Wade G. Hay of Bowie, Md.; Ray M. Hay of Somerset; W. Dale Hay of Annandale, Va.; and Ralph E. Hay of Mill Run; two daughters: Mrs. James (Verla) Green of College Park, Md.; Mrs. Dorothy Dull of Coraopolis, Pa.; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Predeceased by seven brothers: Grant, Thomas, William, Clyde, Robert, Albert and Ira Hay; and one sister, Fannie Belle Hay. Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., Route 711 Melcroft, where service will be held 11 a.m. Friday with Rev James Show and Rev. Alvin Louis Diamond Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Indian Creek Baptist Cemetery, Mill Run. Daily American, September 9, 1987 [H0568]
