Born Oct. 29, 1918, in Jenner Township, Somerset County. Son of the late John H. and Cora S. (Beener) Hay. He was also preceded in death by infant sister, and brother, Arnold G. Survived by his wife, the former Edith Miller; two daughters, Janice Smithley, Ligonier RD, and Sheila Henderson, Bolivar RD; two grandchildren, Cindy Mowry, Latrobe, and Brian Smithley, Crafton; a great-grandson, Evan Mowry; a sister, Virginia Walker, Phoenix, Ariz., and six nieces and nephews. He was a 1937 graduate of Scottsdale High School and retired with almost 42 years service in 1982 from Robertshaw Fulton Controls Co., New Stanton. He also served with the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946. He was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church, Ligonier Township, where a memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on June 17. Daily American, June 13, 1998 [H0588]
