Born Sept. 6, 1922, in Jefferson Township, a son of William Henry and Myrtle Olive (Barron) Hay. Preceded in death by parents; stepmother, Zelma A. (McClintock) Hay; brother, George Hay; and sisters, Pearl Barron, Ruth Ringer and Rena Pritts. Survived by wife, the former Betty Jane (Moore), to whom he was married 60 years; sons, James M. Hay, married to the former Ina Miller, and Roger D. Hay, married to the former, Margaret "Peggy" Lavan, all of Somerset; grandchildren, Scott Hay and wife, Geneene; Brian Hay and fiancˇe, Betsy Ross; Jodi Lohr; and John W. "J.W." Hay and fiancˇe, Jenna Weigle, all of Somerset; great-grandchildren, Michael, Johnny, Jeremy, Daniel and Onia. Also survived by brother, William R. "Bill" Hay and wife, Mary Jane, Galveston, Texas. A 1941 graduate of Somerset High School. Member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, worked as a lifelong Jefferson Township farmer. Also volunteered for the Farmers' and Threshermen's Jubilee. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of service 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church (Barron Church), Rockwood. The Rev. William E. Osman officiating.
