Born May 26, 1914, in Summit Township, son of the late Frank and Amanda (Snyder) Hay. Preceded in death by five brothers, one sister, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Ruby Pearl Hay, and these children: John Elwood, married to the former Erma Pletcher; Dean Allen, married to the former Nancy Sterner, and Dale Leon, married to the former Michelle Shaffer, all of Markleton; Mrs. Harry (Jean Elizabeth) Pletcher, Butler; Donald Ray, married to the former Betty Nicklow, Maryland; Merle Eugene, married to the former Francis Holt, Rockwood RD 1; Roger Lee, married to the former Barbara Yoni, Somerset; Leo James, married to the former Dianne Moore, Casselman; Mrs. Tim (Edna Marie) Stairs, Somerset; Mrs. Tim (Darlene Ruby) Swet, Illinois; Mrs. Frederick (Kathy Ann) Rhoads, married to the former Christy Walker, Rockwood; 29 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Brother of Mrs. Charles (Ruth) Neimiller, Brando; Mrs. Leroy (Blanche) Niehenke, Baden, Pa.; Mrs. Jacob (Grace) Barron, Stoystown; Paul Hay, Cumberland Md.; and Wilbur "Puppy" Hay, Rockwood. Retired coal worker and farmer. Former Black Township supervisor for many years. Member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Rockwood, with 25 years perfect attendance. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Church of Christ, Rockwood, where Mr. Hay will lie in state one hour prior to funeral service, with the Rev. Richard Yates officiating.
