Born Jan. 31, 1916, in Brothersvalley Township, son of J. Nevin and Edith Minerva (Engle) Hay. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters; Margaret Walker-Perez and Helen Miller; brother, John Engle Hay, and his wife, the former Grace Luella Swearman, who died Nov. 29, 1972. Survived by four children: Linda L. and Daniel G., both of Cumberland, Md.; David R., married to the former Virginia Long, of Somerset, and Mary Alice, wife of Donald E. Stotler, Berlin RD 3; also two granddaughters: Jana Lee and Lindsey Jo Stotler, both of Berlin RD 3. Also survived by one sister, Romaine, wife of William T. Robinson of LaVale, Md., and special friend, Evelyn (Brown) Swauger of Meyersdale. Life-long member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Berlin. Retired Brothersvalley Township dairy farmer. He followed his father and grandfather, Simon F. Hay, in ownership of "Blue Lick Valley Farm," which was in the Hay family since 1860. Sixth generation of Hay family to have owned and operated farms in Brothersvalley Township. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Rev. Carl W. Schwarm.
