Born November 19, 1887, in Brothersvalley Township, he was a son of the late Simon F. and Sarah (Suder) Hay. Preceded in death by his wife, the former Margaret Emma Dropp, who died April 28, 1971; a sister, Mrs. Merle Y. (Nellie) Walker; and three brothers, J. Nevin, Norman S. and Howard K. Hay. He is survived by three children: George E., married to former Regina Jarboe, Annandale, Va.; Catherine L., wife of Nelson H. Yoder Jr., and Robert V., married to former Betty Coudriet, both of Davidsville; also one granddaughter, Margaret Ann (Hay) White of Annandale, Va. He retired in 1956 as a shearman, 13-inch Gautier mill, Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown, after a career of 45 years in the steel mill. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Johnstown. Funeral services were held Jan. 18 at The Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc. the Rev. David R. Wetmiller (Berlin native) officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. The Republic, January 21, 1982 [H0605]
